The Power Of Habit

"Habits are at first cobwebs, then cables."
Spanish Proverb

Habits
“Habits (or wonts) are routines of behaviour that are repeated regularly and tend to occur subconsciously. Habitual behaviour often goes unnoticed in persons exhibiting it, because a person does not need to engage in self-analysis when undertaking routine tasks. Habituation is an extremely simple form of learning, in which an organism, after a period of exposure to a stimulus, stops responding to that stimulus in varied manners. Habits are sometimes compulsory. The process by which new behaviours become automatic is habit formation…”
Taken from “Wikipedia”

"The chains of habit are too weak to be felt until they are too strong to be broken."
Samuel Johnson: Diarist, Lexicographer

The power of our habits is huge and it influences our life directly.  We have an ability to use our habits to create happy, healthy and wealthy life using a creative power of our habits. However our destructive habits have the same power to bring poverty, misery and suffering to our life. And the worst is that they become so ingrained we don't even notice them.
Do we have a choice? Yes, we do! We can discover our destructive habits and start replacing them with positive creative habits step by step with everyday routine until the power of our new habits will bring us to the beautiful life we can only imagine.

"A daily routine built on good habits and disciplines separates the most successful among us from everyone else. The routine is exceptionally powerful."
Darren Hardy: Publisher

YOUR CONSTANT COMPANION
“I am your constant companion.
I am your greatest helper or heaviest burden.
I will push you onward or drag you down to failure.
I am completely at your command.
Half of the things you do you might as well turn
over to me and I will do them – quickly and
correctly.
I am easily managed – you must be firm with me.
Show me exactly how you want something done
and after a few lessons, I will do it automatically.
I am the servant of great people,
and alas, of all failures as well.
Those who are great, I have made great.
Those who are failures, I have made failures.
I am not a machine though
I work with the precision of a machine
plus the intelligence of a person.
You may run me for profit or run me for ruin -
it makes no difference to me.
Take me, train me, be firm with me, and
I will place the world at your feet.
Be easy with me and I will destroy you.
Who am I?
I am Habit.”
~ Ann Onnamus

"I never could have done what I have done without the habits of punctuality, order and diligence, without the determination to concentrate on one subject at a time."
Charles Dickens: Novelist

"The habit of persistence is the habit of victory."
Herbert Kaufman: Author, Journalist

  1. Hi Loreta,

We create good habits as easily as we create poor habits. Getting through the discomfort of changing habits is why some say breaking habits is "difficult", but it's not too hard...just uncomfy. Super quotes here.

Sticking to a success strategy and surrounding yourself with successful people makes it easier to build positive habits. If you are feasting on Jim Rohn's wisdom all day long it is easier to build high energy habits than if you listened to your negative neighbor.

All other's success habits to rub off on you. Make your job easier by setting up a positive environment around you.

    Thanks Loreta!
